Charles Brooks plays Live & Local Thursday Dec 19 at 7pm

Charles G Brooks is a field recording artist, visual artist and musician based in the Gatineau Hills. His field-recordings from Madagascar have been released internationally through Mississippi Records and most recently Sublime Frequencies to critical acclaim. His musical-creative output spans several genres in interplay, using rhythm-generated soundscapes of heavy ambient pedal steel and often root blues progressions on any variety of guitar.

His more recent compositions have evolved from an emotive landscape, having long impulses, postponed crescendos favouring organic layering of harmonic tones. The resulting music is an atmospheric experience. Expect an unassuming, circus of harmony and stripped back vocalization from this solo act- in effect, an evening tapped for warm sounds on a winter’s night.
