A common element in folk music across Europe and North America is the instrumental set of tunes, or as they playfully call them in Ireland, “chunes”. Pickachune, a folk trio based out of Wakefield featuring Eva Vanderberg, Matt Selic and Pat Maher, has taken an interest in blending folk styles of Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, and Canada with a particular interest in Newfoundland and Labrador. The tunes are led by accordion and fiddle and accompanied by guitar and bouzouki (with a song or two thrown in for good measure).
